Helping Women with Breast Cancer Since 2001
The U'ilani Fund (pronounced oo-ee-la-nee) is a non-profit organization that has provided funding to individuals with breast cancer to use for complementary care in order to improve quality of life for nearly 20 years. We have supported people in Santa Cruz, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Hawaii.
The U'ilani Fund was created in memory of Marina Lee U'ilani Bermudez, a family physician who passed away from breast cancer in 2000. We have given out over 1,000 grants totaling over $650,000 to women in need.
We have made the difficult decision to cease operations as of December 31, 2020. We will continue to honor the mission of The U'ilani Fund and will be providing grants for the remainder of the year. Breast cancer patients can apply for grants through November 30, 2020.
One of the founding directors, Dr. Mindy Goldman, is in the early stages of imagining a new organization that will support breast cancer survivors in a different way. As she develops these ideas and vision, she may be touch to let you know about the new venture.
